USER INSTRUCTIONS
From HomeScreen, touch “Make an Entry for Today”
To Enter a Video:
Touch “Record Video Entry” - This will activate the camera of your device. Select the video function of the camera and make your recording of the day’s events. After finishing the recording, you will have the option of playing back your recording. At this point, you may either “Retake” the video or “Use” the video. This takes you back to your entry screen.
You can also record an audio entry, or upload a picture or video from your camera roll. The process for both of these functions are the same. (Note that when uploading a picture or video from your camera roll, after you select the picture, tap anywhere on the screen and the camera roll will disappear.)To enter more than one picture, simply continue tapping the ones you want saved for that day. You may enter multiple videos in the same entry.
At any point in the process, you may type in a short description or a long narrative of your day on the notepad, and you may enter a title at the top of the entry screen.
Once you get the video, audio, pictures and/or text entries that you want, you will hit the “Save to Calendar” button to save the data in your diary. (Users who do not have front facing cameras can still enter videos of the days events in this manner.)
To make or change an entry for a previous day, select the day from the calendar and select the "Add" button at the top right of the calendar. If you have a previous entry, you can delete it and start over, or just add another entry and it will also be saved under that date. If you have not yet made an entry for that day, follow the entry procedures outlined above. You can make as many entries as you want for a given day and the titles for these entries will appear in the calendar view when you select that date.
To Review a Previous Entry:
Go to "Make Entry For Selected Day" to bring up the calendar view. Any day that you have made an entry will have a "dot" on that calendar day. Select the date and it will show you how many entries you have on the day under the calendar. From here you can go to the “Memory” screen where you can watch your video, listen to your audio, look at your pictures, and read about the entries that you have saved. You can also delete your entry, add another entry, or make a new entry in any category.
Syncing:
Select the "Info" button in the top right hand corner and turn on iCloud Backup. Choose "Save data to iCloud" and all your entries will be backup up. To retrieve this data, or download the data to another iOS device, simple choose "Load data from iCloud" from the new device and the data will then be accessible.
It is highly recommended that you back up all your entries onto your computer once a month, and before loading any update. To do so follow these instructions:
- Sync your device with your computer using iTunes connect.
- On the scroll down to “File Sharing” and select Video Diary.
- Highlight all the files under the “Documents” window, or all files not previously backed up and select “Save To”.
- Chose your destination to save your entries. (It is recommended that you create a folder under the app’s name so you can keep all the files in that folder.)
By doing this if the app crashes our you lose your device, everything you have entered will be saved and can be viewed on your computer.
